HOW ABOUT A NEW START?
A FRESH START? MAYBE EVEN THE CHANCE TO "START AGAIN?"
Welcome to Legacy Church!
Twelve years ago when Legacy Church first got its start, 18 people initially grabbed a hold of the idea that the gospel was for people who needed a fresh start in life. The Bible says that God is in the business of making all thing NEW. That’s what he’s doing in each of us. He’s making all things new. Maybe you haven’t been to church in a while, or you’ve just given up on church all together. We think there’s a whole bunch of people just like that around La Mesa and the East County – actually all over San Diego! God loves it when people take another run at the spiritual parts of life – including church! At Legacy Church we start with where people are in life, and not where someone else says they “ought” to be.
Come and experience church again (or for the first time!). At Legacy it’s never too late to let Jesus do something good, or even remarkable in your life! Please take a few minutes and check out what is going on at Legacy Church . . . with children (Legacy Kids, youth ministries, small groups, or a whole array of special activities and outreach events. All this in addition to our Sunday worship services. In LA MESA at 8:30 & 10 a.m. We currently meet at 8076 La Mesa Blvd in LA MESA. And one service at 10:45 a.m. in TIERRASANTA 10881 Tierrasanta Blvd. And as always ONLINE at 10 am.
OUR SENIOR PASTOR
Dr. Thomas Lengyel Grew up in the La Mesa/Spring Valley area. Graduated from Grossmont H.S., Westmont College (B.A.), Bethel Seminary San Diego (M.Div.), and then finally, from Duke Divinity School (D.Min.). He has served churches in North Carolina, Massachusetts, and California. Most recently as the Family Ministries Pastor at College Avenue Baptist Church in San Diego. His duties with Legacy Church began on June 1, 2023. He is married to Maggie; and has two kids, daughter, Sparrow; son, Odyssey. Fun facts: drinks tea way more than coffee, he is an avid Padres fan, a serious world traveler... with one con, he still cheers for Duke basketball.
OUR Founding PASTOR
Curt Gruber (Founding Pastor) sensed God’s challenge to begin forming Legacy Church in 2007. The church started with just 18 people initially. It has grown steadily since that time with new people and new believers in Jesus Christ. Prior to that, Curt served for many years in the local church and led a church planting movement through Converge Southwest. Curt continues to teach courses at the graduate level through Bethel University. He is married to Lisa (who works as a ministry director at Legacy as well) and they have one son, who’s presently living in Nebraska, plus two dogs – a Labrador and a Bassett Hound.
